I love all my Birkenstock sandals and have never had a problem with “breaking them in” as their website says but these do seem a bit stiffer than the sandals. I have never worn this style. I am sure they will be fine after a few wears. Birkenstock’s last forever.

The first pair arrived with a glue clump on the leather. They had me drive 15 miles to the main UPS station to have them package my return. I could have printed off a label at home and dropped it off two blocks from my house.The second pair arrived quickly and were in good condition although they were dusty and had a shiny spot in the top of both shoes where something had been sitting on top of t hem. I was eventually able to brush it out but I just wasn't thrilled with all the effort it took to get a pair of shoes that looked new.This is my second pair of this exact shoe. I wore out my other ones after 15 years. I'm anxious to try out the new softer footbed. They were already the world's most comfortable shoe!

These shoes were a little small for a standard Size 13 they will not fit if I wear socks

I USUALLY WEAR A 71/2 THESE I COULD HAVE PROBABLY GONE A SIZE SMALLER. THE SOFT FOOTBED IS COMFORTABLE FOR MY HIGH ARCHES

Very comfy I got size 38 I wear a 7.5 shoes size. Love how it looks can't wait to wear it in the winter time. I live in Florida so this is perfect boots are usually too much unless we have a very cold day. Love my birks third pair I've bought!

I would normally buy these from Amazon but they were out of the black suede in the size I needed, so I purchased these from Zappos.I wear a size 9 in Teva sandals, a size 40 in Birkenstock Amsterdam, a size 40 in Arizonas (soft footbed) and I wear a size 11 in my Brooks Ghost 8 & Gylcerin 13 sneakers. My feet, like most people, are two different sizes. So I ordered the Bostons (soft footbed) in 40 regular, because all of my shoes have always been medium width and either a size 9 or 10. I have never, ever had a wide width shoe. Watch out for reviews that tell you to purchase narrow unless you are really wide, because those people are wrong. Regular means just that, regular, normal width.For whatever reason, Birkenstock Boston sizes vary a little. I had a pair of Bostons size 40 that the inside of the footbed only measured 10", another pair of Bostons were extremely big and now this pair that just arrived today, the footbed measures 10 1/4". They fit but that doesn't leave much room for thicker socks.The soft footbed are superior, in my opinion, however, I adore my Birkenstock Amsterdam which have the original footbed. I find the Amsterdam has more toe room to wiggle around, and they are slightly longer than the Bostons, which is perfect but technically Amsterdam are slippers.Anyway, these shoes are perfect for those with PF, heel spurs & high arches. Expensive but do yourself a favor and just buy them. They are so worth it! Every so often, apply a thin coat of cork renew to the cork areas and buy a suede eraser if you have the taupe and get a stain. It works like magic. Also, scotchguard these. I bought a can of scotchguard for suede leather. I put two light coats as the directions say on my suede Bostons and they are waterproof. Had them on yesterday and it was raining. Immediately the rain drops beaded up and then bounced off of my shoes once I stomped my feet a little. These shoes are awesome! So comfortable that I never want to take them off.

This is my first pair of Birkenstocks and I love them so far. They are very comfortable for long shifts walking around the hospital. This shoe DOES run BIG. I wear a womens 6.5 or 7 so I ordered a 37... they were way too big. I returned them for a 36, which now fit comfortable still with room to spare. Overall a great buy.

I wear these every day. I started wearing only Birks with soft footbed 1 1/2 years ago for plantar fasciitis and never looked back. I'm a nurse of 40 years in surgery, so run around a lot and these have saved me. I like the suede because it's kinder to my bunions. The strap does stretch over time, but I got an inexpensive leather punch to make new holes as needed. I prefer they fit fairly snug so the stay on. They don't cure all foot pain, but I can walk at the end of a regular shift and that's what I'm after. The soft footbed gives enough cushion on hard floors and enough arch support for me.

This is my second pair of Birkenstocks in this style. I think that there is a unisex version and a women's "fashion" version, and this one (black suede) appears to be the latter. My other pair has more shape to the shoe, and the suede is thicker and less soft but sturdier. This new pair is kind of floppy and doesn't stay "open" when you take the shoe off. These also cost considerably less than the other pair. I still like them, they are just as comfy, but I but doubt they will last as long as the unisex version. They do run large and wide. I ordered my usual 39N and had to punch another hole in the strap to hold them on. Thicker socks make them more comfy too.

If you need more support, go with the regular footbed and do yourself a favor and get yourself properly fitted at a store that sells lots of Birkenstocks, preferably a Birkenstock store that also does repairs. A Birkenstock "narrow" may fit many women's feet that are considered normal by any other shoe maker. A "B" width is generally considered normal for women. A B width is way too narrow for my feet.This particular pair was a bit more snug than another pair of Birkenstock "regular" (wide) 37 soft footbeds that I own, but that may just be the difference between a wool and suede pair? My feet have been measured recently at a 7 1/2 women's D width, but in my 20's they were measured at a 6 1/2 women's EE, and E width. I wore 38 regulars for years because my feet spread and measured bigger and it recently caused all sorts of problems with my arch on the foot that is a tad smaller, my hips, knees and back. I went back to a 37 regular, with the regular footbed and the problems stopped within days. I like the soft footbed, but I cannot wear it all the time because I need more support.I'm hoping that resoling this shoe will not be a problem, but I know that having the footbed liner replaced in a soft footbed is not done. Having them resoled is less than half the cost of a new pair, even with shipping costs/travel time. For a woman with feet like mine, it's nice to be able to wear a decent, supportive shoe that is not horribly expensive. With "cork life" care and timely resoling, a leather pair of Birkenstocks will last for years, one pair of Nubuck Arizonas lasted for 13 years with heavy wear.

Bought these 2 days ago, they arrived in 2 days after selecting standard shipping to Canada - amazing service! I have the arizona sandals with the regular footbed and loved them so much I wanted some clogs. But, because I will be standing in these more than walking, I decided I wanted the soft footbed. The soft footbed soles are much more plush and not entirely comparable to the regular sole. They are still supportive - that distinctive birkenstock footbed feel is there with great metatarsal and arch support - but they definitely have a lot more give to them. The leather upper is thick but soft and very comfy. The leather on the soft footbeds feels a little softer and thinner than on the regular footbeds. For those who love their birks but just want something a little more cushy, these are the answer! For those who wanted to love birks but couldn't take the "hard" footbeds, this is exactly what you've been looking for.I ordered the same size as my arizona sandals - I measure a size 10.5 medium US mens shoe on a brannock device, which according to the Birkenstock chart is a 43. But I find the 43 too large, with my toes a bit far from the end and unable to grip the toe-bar properly. So I fit a 42 regular in birkenstocks. The boston clogs fit very similar to the arizonas in terms of length and width, but the heel cup is very slightly less deep (but still quite supportive), and perhaps slightly narrower than on my arizona sandals. Because they have only one strap, they do fit looser on my low volume feet. I can wear them barefoot on the last notch, or on the second notch with regular socks. But since they are new, they will no doubt stretch, and I might have to cut a new notch for the buckle eventually.All in all a great piece of footwear. I am a recent and now devoted birkenstock convert after shunning them for years.Finally, my feet are getting the support they need, and in a handsome and comfortable package. And at the reduced prices offered here, it's a no-brainer!
